Spring 2013 Awards

The Honors Program at Ferris State University was proud to recognize the following students for outstanding achievement at our biannual Awards Dinner held on Friday, January 25th.

  • Dr. Bradley Isler – Outstanding Honors Professor

because according to students . . .
“He has a true passion for teaching.”
“As an academic advisor, his first priority is his students.”
‘He not only excels in the normal classroom setting, but in a one-on-one tutoring setting as well.”
“He links his lectures to the real world so students have a better understanding of the material.”
“He is a strong advocate for students gaining research experience, taking on three students in his lab this year.”
“He is a loyal advisor to the DNA-Biotechnology fraternity and attends all meetings, activities, and organizes tours for the group.”

  • Ryan Kaiponen – Outstanding Leader

for going above and beyond in his Peer Mentor responsibilities, by helping students develop study skills and by being an escort at night for students; for helping first-year students find service work by introducing them to RSOs on campus; and for being a great role model both in leadership and general kindness and helping new students  find a way to “fit in.

  • Katie Milbourne – Outstanding leader

for inspiring students in the American Marketing Association; by motivating students and helping them get involved; and by being the front leader in marketing the Creek’s Edge Apartments Open House. With her leadership and direction, the AMA completed their service goals, has the highest member retention rate in years and has been nationally recognized as a ‘silver’ chapter. Katie has also been an Honors Peer Mentor and is involved in the Ferris State CROP Hunger Walk each year. Katie has truly made her mark in the College of Business and Ferris community.

  • Abigail Dutkiewicz – Outstanding Scholar, 2013

in recognition of your hard work, motivation, focus and dedication to academic excellence.
