Dr. Phillip Martell will be presenting a Lunch and Learn on March 21, 2013 titled “The Great Comets of 2013”
Two bright, naked-eye comets are expected to grace our skies during the coming months. The first, Comet Pan-STARRS, may be visible in the evening western sky by early March. By late November, we may be witness to a ‘millennial comet’ – Comet ISON – possibly the brightest comet anyone now living has ever seen, or is likely to see. We will discuss the nature of comets, comet lore, and the prospects for viewing the great comets of 2013.
