Mission trip to Eastern Kentucky, Spring Break 2013

I was fortunate to go on a mission trip to Lousia, Kentucky with a group of 20 kids from Newman Center, a Catholic organization at Ferris. Lousia is in the Appalachian Mountains, and has one of the highest poverty rates in the country. We were able to help build ramps for several homes for people with wheelchairs and disabilities, repair roofing, help with demolition, and add new flooring, along with various other projects. Many of us were touched but the generosity and kindness of the families that we helped. It was an tremendously rewarding experience to spend a week with my peers helping those less fortunate.
