Community Service – Big Rapids CROP Walk

Big Rapids CROP Walk, 2013

Big Rapids CROP Walk, 2013

The annual Big Rapids’ CROP Hunger Walk is approaching and we are looking for walkers to participate. Church World Service and our local hunger agency Project Starburst sponsor the Big Rapids area CROP Hunger Walk each year to raise funds for hunger programs in our area and around the globe. The Big Rapids area walk distributes a quarter of the funds raised to Project Starburst, a local food pantry. The remainder of the funds will support Church World Service and other designated international agencies for their relief and development programs.

Many organizations on and off campus can form teams to walk and raise funds for the event. This is an easy way to gain service hours. The walk will be taking place on Sunday, October 6th, 2012 at 1:30pm. The walk begins in the IRC Connector and will continue through the city of Big Rapids. Refreshments will be provided as well as t-shirts to participants who meet their goal of raising funds.

Getting involved is simple. To stay up to date on news or meetings about the walk, join the event on facebook! Or, register your team today at the Church World Service to get started with your fundraising. Even if you choose not to raise funds, participating and creating awareness makes a big difference!

Thank you for your participation in this year’s walk! I’d be glad to answer any questions you have regarding the walk and how to get involved.
