BIOL 116, section 213: Nature Study

Great Lakes flora and fauna are studied, with emphasis on ecological relationships and environmental impacts. Fisheries and wildlife management principles are also discussed. Open to recreation and outdoor activities directors, teachers needing updating in natural science, lifelong learning adults and others interested in the out-of-doors. Not applicable to the applied biology major. Some hiking required.

Honors students will apply lecture material to understand the local ecology and environmental concerns in the area.  Through place-based learning, they will immerse themselves into our community and our natural surroundings while trying to evoke positive social-ecological change.  This is an opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom walls, and take a leadership role in real-world environmental topics.

 

This course meets General Education requirements: Scientific Understanding, Lab.

Honors section – registration for section 213 will be for Honors students.
