Honors Programming Board Variety Show 2013

Each year Ferris State’s Honors students have fun for the public good. The annual Honors Variety Show features the talents of students; this year’s ten acts included a dramatic monologue, spoken-word poetry, musicians and several bands. Students voted for their favorite performers by contributing donations to a passing bucket after each act.

The proceeds benefit a good cause. This year the students raised over $275 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mecosta and Osceola counties and the Bill Miller Band won Crowd Favorite while Joshy J took home the Judge’s Choice prize with his rendition of “Hallelujah.” The event is driven by the students in the Honors Programming Board and supported by Big Rapids community. Smart Style, Buffalo Wild Wings, J.C. Penny, The Good Dog Bakery, Mancino’s, Rogers Jewelers, Biggby Coffee, Falcon Head Golf Club, Ferris’ UREC, and Earth Wind and Fire all donated prizes for the showcase. The Variety Show celebrates key aspects of Honors Program at Ferris: students develop leadership, participate in service, and display their talents. Pulling off the event is hard work but also great fun.
