SafeRide – is a free shuttle bus service available to students and the community for transportation home from local establishments in town. The SafeRide program has been ongoing since 2000, was founded by the student body of Ferris State University, and was first funded by Student Government. This program was created to give the students and community rides home safely after night hours. The origin was not intended for only those whose are intoxicated, but for anyone who did not have a ride home, or did not feel safe walking home at night. With the New Year, we want to increase the awareness of this program, because yearly about 1,825 college students die from motor vehicle crashes related to alcohol.
