Alternative Spring Break to Houma, Louisiana

The United Church of Big Rapids is sponsoring another Alternative Spring Break service trip to Houma Louisiana, March 8th through March 15th. You need to be 18 or older to go on the trip. The trip is open to all Ferris students, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious tradition or lack thereof.

This will be the 12th mission trip of this organization to Louisiana. Members of the trip will drive to Louisiana and stay in dorm rooms at a local church, so it will not be an expensive trip. Participants will spend one night in a motel on the way to Louisiana, share in the gasoline,  and pool their money for the cost of meals they prepare for the week they are there. They will also provide their own spending money, and probably travel all night to get home on Saturday the 15th. The total cost of the trip should be no more than $300 per person. If you are able to drive your car or van, please let us know. For more information on the trip, contact Lee Thomas at  or Jerena Keys at .

If you are interested in joining us, or would like additional information about this service opportunity, there will be a Lunch & Learn to discuss travel details on February 13, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Honors Conference Room, PIC 142C. To RSVP for this event, please contact [email protected] by noon on Feb. 12.
