PSYH 331: Psychology of Personality is a junior-level psychology class that focuses on the one of the interesting but ambiguous area of psychology. This class focuses on the relationship between internal characteristics (thoughts and feelings) and behavior. This is an area in which is exciting, but often filled with probabilistic answers. As a consequence it often involves reviewing and weighting different explanations.

Activities will involve coming to understand how we research personality phenomena and how they can be related to the wider world. This will involve reviewing and discussing the theory and research related to the structure and nature of personality. We will cover some of the classic views of personality (Such as Psychodynamic and Existentialist) and more modern explanations (such as positive psychology, trait explanations, and the big five model).

Class members will be called upon to develop items for a personality measure, choose items for that measure, and then pilot that measure. This experience serves to provide hands on experience with the process of measure development.
