AN 8-WEEK PROGRAM @ FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY
We are pleased to invite FSU faculty, staff, and students to participate in the Mindfulness-Based
Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program!
The stress we experience in everyday life and the demands of work, school, relationships, and other obligations can be overwhelming. One effective approach, substantiated by over three decades of research, to managing these and other stressors, is mindfulness-based stress reduction.
Introduced in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, mindfulness and MBSR have been shown to equip people to better understand and work with the stress in their lives – whether physical, psychological, or social.
Mindfulness is both a basic human quality and a powerful practice that gives you tools to build a foundation of clarity and calm in the midst of life’s rockiest times. From this place of stability, you can engage the challenges and joys of life with a renewed sense of energy and balance.
8-WEEK MBSR PROGRAM
Thursdays: October 16, 23, and 30, November 6, 13, and 20,
and December 4 and 11
6:30-9 PM—FLITE 442
An all-day retreat is scheduled for Saturday, November 22.
Funding so that students can participate for free and faculty and staff at a cost of $150 was provided by the Birkam Health and Counseling Center, Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, Human Resources, and Staff Center for Training and Development.
Faculty and Staff: $150 Students: No cost
The cost includes practice CDs and a workbook. Space is limited to 25 participants.

This free Information Session will be offered prior to the start of the 8- week MBSR Program so that you can determine if the pro- gram is right for you. You will learn what you can expect from the program and what will be expected from you as a participant. Attendance is strongly encouraged before beginning the 8-Week MBSR Program.
