Lunch & Learn: “Water, Water Everywhere”: Searching for Water in the Solar System

Water is found abundantly on Earth. In this talk, Professor Phillip Martell will review evidence for the presence of water elsewhere in the solar system, in all its forms, at present and in the past. Water and life appear to be inseparable. No known living organism can function without water; life is found wherever there is water on Earth.  So looking for life beyond Earth has become a matter of: Follow the water!  Which has guided the design of NASA missions engaged in the search for evidence of life, especially on Mars. We’ll investigate where water is leading us in the search for life beyond Earth.
