Maude Bigford Honors Program Annual Scholarship

The Maude Bigford Honors Program Annual Scholarship is named for the Honors Program’s founding coordinator who served the program from 1997 until her retirement in 2012. Under Professor Bigford’s leadership the program grew from a small program to a key facet of Ferris’s undergraduate education experience now serving more than 700 highly motived and engaged students.

The Maude Bigford Honors Program Annual Scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student in the Honors Program from any major. Recipients must meet the following criteria:

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Standing in any program Ferris State University.
  • The recipient shall have a minimum 3.25 GPA at the time of application.
  • A demonstrated record of leadership and service to the community or Ferris State University.
  • Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need determined of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

The Maude Bigford Honors Program Annual Scholarship is awarded once annually by the scholarship selection committee. Awards are applied directly to student accounts and can be used toward tuition, fees, room and board, and other education related expenses. Recipients may reapply for the scholarship the next academic year provided they have demonstrated satisfactory academic progress as specified by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. If the recipient becomes ineligible at the end of the fall semester, the award shall be withheld and awarded to another qualified applicant.
