Internship Opportunity: Family Health Care

If you like working with other people, helping them to feel better, and learn more about their health, we need you!  Volunteers are needed to be trained in Diabetes self-management program.  This program was developed at Stanford University and is being offered in the Baldwin community.  The program meets for 6 weeks, 2.5 hours per week and leaders help participants learn how to manage their diabetes in different ways including, goal setting, problem solving, physical activity, social support and more.  Leaders do not need to have Diabetes and do not have to have any experience in leading groups.  Training is provided free of charge as Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan, 3215 Eaglecrest Dr. NW, Grand Rapids.  Volunteers must attend all four days of training, April 28, 30, May 5 and 7.  A stipend of $250 per six week workshop will be offered to volunteers with a training bonus of $250 with the completion of the 2 workshop completion. This opportunity could also count towards an internship requirement.
