PI Day 2015 is extra special; it will be the most accurate Pi Day that many people  will experience in their lifetime. The last time this happened was in 1915 and the next nearest occurrence will be in 2115.

What makes this PI so special? On March 14 at both the AM & PM hours, the date will read 3/14/15 at 9:26:53.589, making it the most accurate Pi day of the entire 21st century. To celebrate  this once in a lifetime occurence, mathematicians everywhere have special activities planned, including pie eating contests, Pi trivia contests, and community math workshops. A bakery in Chicago will be giving a free slice of pie to anyone that can recite the first 20 digits of pi from memory. What do you have planned for Pi day 2015? Whatever it is, you can do it while singing this little pi song!!

The Math Forum @ Drexel: Morehouse: Pi Day Songs

Sing a Song of Pi Day
sung to the tune of “Sing a Song of Sixpence”

Sing a Song of Pi Day
Come celebrate with me
A holiday from math class
Relieves monotony
We’ve “rounded up” refreshments
An elegant cuisine
The party is approximately March fourteen!

If Pi Day’s on the weekend
And we are not at school
We’ll celebrate on Friday
A difference miniscule
We’ll call it Pi Day Eve and
The party’s just the same
With songs and snacks (all circular)
You’ll be so glad you came!
