With growing populations of honors students in Grand Rapids, we want to help you find opportunities to gain valuable cultural competencies. We know it can be hard to find events in a new city, and even harder to find free ones. Below are some opportunities for cultural events in Grand Rapids. Avenue for the Arts, “The Avenue for the Arts is a neighborhood title for the South Division commercial corridor. We are residential, commercial and nonprofit groups working together in a creative community. We are residents in Heartside, and active participants in shaping change in our neighborhood. In 2005, we choose the Avenue for the Arts as a title to represent our commercial corridor and the projects and events that we create.”
UICA: “The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts builds creative community by fostering new forms of expression, promoting collaboration, and providing genuine experiences with contemporary art.” Look for film showings as well as great art exhibits.
KCAD: Kendall College of Art & Design at Ferris State offers a wide range of events in Grand Rapids.
