Event Goal: 625 Big Rapids households make a fire escape plan.
Student volunteers will canvass assigned homes within Big Rapids providing preparedness education and materials between 10 am and 5 pm completing 25 resident preparedness educational interviews. Each presentation will be 15 to 20 minutes providing an emphasis on fire safety and making an escape plan. Student volunteers will document preparedness presentations. As a reward for participation residents who make a plan will be given a chance to win a $45 value preparedness kit.
This event is part of the 2015 Day of Service & Learning; a project started in 2014 by the Honors Program, that provides as many students as possible with a meaningful service opportunity at the start of the year.
