MINDS Aflame Speaker Series: Jacqueline Peacock

“Beyond: Globalization” at Ferris State University will be holding their annual MINDS Aflame event on September 29th from 5:30pm till 8:30pm in the Williams Auditorium. This event is similar to a TED Talk and it will include 9 presenters who speak for about 12 minutes each. This speaker series is a great way for students to finish their Cultural Event requirement as each hour of this event counts as one Cultural Event.

During the second hour, Dr. Jacqueline Peacock will make a presentation entitled “Genetics and Globalization.” Below is a short bio Dr. Peacock as provided.

During graduate school, I studies the molecular regulation of heart valve development and disease using genetically modifies model systems. After finishing my Ph.D., I spent 4 years at the Van Andel Research Institute, where my research focused on a genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), with the goal of improving treatment options for NF1 patients with cancer. Ongoing projects include creating models of a newly defined Rasopathy, Oculoectodermal Dysplasia, and development of diagnostic tools to better predict tumor responses to chemotherapy. I also serve as the Modular Diagnostics Program Coordinator and advisor to students entering the program.

To see Dr. Peacock’s presentation make sure to attend the MINDS Aflame Speaker Series on September 29th!
