Cultural Events: Disabilities Awareness Month Event Series

October is Disability Awareness Month in celebration of 25 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In awareness of this month, the Office of Educational Counseling and Disabilities Services, the Office of Retention and Student Success, the Liaison Committee for Students with Disabilities, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and FLITE are presenting an Event Series during the month of October. Below is a list of the events for this year:

Monday, October 5th from 3-5pm in Williams Auditorium Lobby – Disabilities Awareness Month Kick-off: Resource Fair and Demos

Thursday, October 15th from 11-11:50am in IRC 120 – Student Speaker Series: Brittany Gwisdala “Does the ADA Matter?”

Saturday, October 17th from 5-7pm in Wink Arena – Wheelchair Basketball

Tuesday, October 20th from 11-11:50am in IRC 120 – Student Speaker Series: Katie Steadman “Facing Our Discomfort”

Wednesday, October 28th from 6:15-7:30pm in Wink Arena – 5-Star Speaker Event: Luis Montalvan, Veteran and Author

The first event, “Disabilities Awareness Month Kick-Off,” is a great way to meet the Education Counseling and Disabilities Services Office’s staff as well as enjoy some food, so make sure to stop by the Williams Auditorium Lobby on Monday!
