“The concept of neurodiversity was first introduce by Judy Singer in a an attempt to shift focus away from talking about deficits to talking about differences in the way the brain works. It refers to the diversity in the human brain and mind, the infinite variation of neurocognitive functioning. All people have different manners of learning and communicating. These differences bring unique gifts to the individual as well as challenges. This presentation will explore some of these differences to bring an awareness and appreciation of one’s own neurodiversity as well as the acceptance of others.”
