The Department for Sports, Entertainment, and Hospitality Management as well as the Program for Hospitality Management are hosting as collaboration between Ferris State University and the International Wine, Beer, and Food Festival in Grand Rapids.
They are looking for about 5-10 honors students to volunteer their time to help pour wine at this festival for each of the three days of the event. Students who volunteer would gain service hours and raise money for the program. Below is some more information about the event:
The 8th Annual Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer & Food Festival
DeVos Place, Grand Rapids, MI
The Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer, & Food Festival will be held on November 19, 20, and 21st. Each student will be required to serve a minimum of one shift within a booth as a pourer at the festival.
Attire: Black pants or skirt, black comfortable shoes, with buttoned and collared white shirt. You will be provided a black apron with a cool FSU College of Business logo. Hit up Goodwill or First Ladies Attic for cheap or free clothing. Be prepared with proper attire!
Schedule:
Thursday, November 19th
- Check in at West Commons (next to Public Safety, near Bishop and Cramer Halls)
- Board FSU bus from 2:00 to 2:20pm; Bus leaves at 2:30pm
- Show floor: 4:00pm to 10:00pm
- Bus returns to campus by 11:30pm
Friday, November 20th
- Check in at West Commons
- Board bus from 1:00pm to 1:20pm; Bus leaves at 1:30pm
- Show floor: 4:00pm to 10:00pm
- Bus returns to campus by 11:30pm
Saturday, November 21st
- Check in at West Commons
- Board bus from 9:00 to 9:20am; Bus leaves at 9:30am
- Show floor: 12:00pm to 10:00pm
- Bus returns to campus by 11:30pm
You MUST attend one training session, even if you have attended training before and even if you are TIPS certified. We require an updated completed quiz on file and a brush-up on procedures and being aware of changes in procedures is necessary. Attend any ONE of the scheduled training times. Dates for training will be announced.
Attendance is taken through the completed quiz at the conclusion of the training session. Training is expected to take no more than one hour. You do not need to sign up for training, just show up, and take the quiz.
For liability and safety, all students are expected to ride the buses to the event.
