John Cullen, Deirdre Fagan, and Charlie Malone will be presenting a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, December 8th entitled “Poets on the Creative Process.” During their presentation, Professors Cullen, Fagan, and Malone will discuss poetry and the creative process as well as read some poetry selections and answer any questions. Below is a short description of what their presentation will cover.

“In this Lunch & Learn presentation, John Cullen will host poets Deirdre Fagan and Charles Malone. Each poet will answer questions posed by the moderator about the creative process involved in poetry writing and then read an original poem that illustrate the comments. Questions for the poets include the following: How do you get ideas for poems? Must a poem inspired by a memory remain true to the original event? What is the best advice you ever got that changed how you finished a poem? When you have a poem that does not work, do you discard it or place it in hibernation? This presentation will seek a balance between talking about and listening to poetry. Students are encouraged to bring their own questions for the poets on any aspect of writing.”
