The Honors Program at Indiana University East invites its fellow Honors students and faculty from the Mid-East Honors region to Richmond, Indiana for the 38th annual conference of the Mid-East Honors Association (MEHA).  Indiana University East has been active in MEHA for six years and are excited to host the conference on their campus.

The executive committee of MEHA is now seeking proposals for sessions at the conference which will be held from April 1-3,2016. They accept a broad range of topics such as student research, Honors pedagogy, unique learning approaches, etc. Proposals will be accepted in the following categories: oral presentations and poster presentations. All proposals must be submitted electronically and presentation guidelines should be reviewed prior to submission.

To submit a proposal, complete the online form. You will need to enter an abstract of no more than 50 words and a full description of no more than 250 words. The abstract will be printed in the conference brochure, and the description will be used by the selection committee. For more information on how to submit a proposal, visit http://www.mideasthonors.org/call-for-proposals.

The deadline for submitting proposals is February 15, 2016.

Besides the academic side of the conference, IUE is planning an exciting pizza-party/trivia mixer Friday night. Abe Lincoln will welcome everyone at a Saturday morning Welcome and Keynote, and their afternoon “City as Text” will feature the rich Indiana history in their area: an Underground Railroad house, the Wright Brother’s birthplace, etc.  Finally, on Saturday night, IUE will be holding a banquet in a renovated turn-of-the-century Blues Club in Richmond, with two student bands performing.

If you are interested in attending this conference and submitting a presentation, please contact the Honors Office at 231-591-2216 or via email at .
