Brainchild is an honors-only literary and arts magazine. The magazine is housed at Kent State University, who is an affiliate of the Mid-East Honors Association. The mission of the magazine is to offer creatively talented honors students the opportunity to be published as undergraduates – there is no cost for submitting to the magazine. They also offer the chance to be read by a diverse readership and the chance to be scouted by MFA programs. In the past, they have had a booth at the AWP Conference in Los Angeles, and MFA programs have directly contacted them to recruit those who have published pieces to join their programs.
Brainchild is calling upon Ferris Honors students to submit pieces for the 2016 issue. Submissions are open until January 15, 2016 and they can include pieces of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, essays, photography, and fine art.
If you are interested, you are encouraged to visit their website for submission guidelines, check out their history, as well as view past issues for a better sense of their aesthetic. If you have any questions, please contact editor@brainchildmagazine.org.
