Volunteer Opportunity: MLK Week

The Office of Multicultural Student Services would like to encourage students to volunteer during the 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration from January 18-21, 2016. They are looking for students to assist with the registration tables (see description for details). Volunteers should only sign-up for events they can commit to, shifts are 1.25 hours each, students can sign up for concurrent or multiple hours. Below is a list of events, what volunteering would entail, and the shift hours for that particular event.

MLK 30th Annual Freedom March, Monday, January 18, University Center Rankin Lounge & 202

Duties include picking-up materials for registration table at the OMSS office located in the FLITE Library 159, passing out pluggers/handouts labeled for the event, passing out flyer for other MLK events, dropping-off materials at the end of the event to the OMSS office in FLITE. Two to three volunteers are needed for each of the shifts listed below.

Shift Times:

6:00 – 7:15pm

7:00 – 8:15pm

8:00 – 9:15pm

MLK 30th Annual Student Tribute, Tuesday, January 19, University Center 217

Duties include picking-up materials for registration table at the OMSS office located in the FLITE Library 159, passing out pluggers/handouts labeled for the event, passing out flyer for other MLK events, dropping-off materials at the end of the event to the OMSS office in FLITE. Two to three volunteers are needed for each of the shifts listed below.

Your Words Have Power – Discussion, Wednesday, January 20, University Center 202AB

2016 MLK Celebration Keynote Speaker, Thursday, January 21, University Center 202C

Duties include picking-up materials for registration table at the OMSS office located in the FLITE Library 159, passing out pluggers/handouts labeled for the event, passing out flyer for other MLK events, dropping-off materials at the end of the event to the OMSS office in FLITE. Two to three volunteers are needed for each of the shifts listed below.

2016 Tunnel of Oppression Exhibit, Tuesday, January 19 – Thursday, January 21, Ward Hall

Duties include picking-up materials for registration table at the Ward Hall Front Desk, passing out pluggers/handouts labeled for the event, passing out flyers for other MLK events, dropping-off materials for table at the Ward Hall Front Desk. Two to three volunteers are needed for each of the shifts listed below.

10:30 – 11:45am

11:30 – 12:45pm

12:30 – 1:45pm
