The trip will help students learn how professionals create effective advertising, which speak directly to the culture of Germans, Dutch, and Europeans. The trip will be four weeks from July 9 to August 5, 2016, which is the perfect amount of time to experience everything the local culture has to offer: great food, music, and sights. Most importantly, students will be able to meet people from all over the world who are enjoying life in vibrant historic, commercially-important German cities of Cologne, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich as well as Dutch cities of Amsterdam and Nijmegen.

Dr. Dedeux and Dr. Drake will be taking 15 students with them and will join international students who are already studying at the partner school, Hochschule Rhein-Waal (HSRW) in Kleve, Germany. This campus will be the headquarters for studying and the point of departure for travel throughout the region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The International Advertising content focuses on the role of culture on the marketing communications activities of German and Dutch marketers. Classes meet at HSRW in the morning and leave Kleve by rail to visit major advertising agencies where you will see how advertising principles are practiced by several of the best marketers and their advertising/public relations agencies in Europe. You will earn six credits paced between coursework in International Advertising (AIMC 390), which is credited as a Global Consciousness course, and German Culture (GERM 331), which is credited as both Global Consciousness and Cultural Awareness. There is no prerequisite for either class.
