Dr. Gail Bullard, Assistant Professor in the College of Health Professions, will be hosting a series of lectures at FSU in March and April on the topic “Understanding Healthcare Reform: Beyond the Politics.” The sessions will be open to the public. Offered as a part of Dr. Bullard’s research on health literacy, the lecture series offers opportunity to heighten understanding and awareness of the complexity of healthcare reform as viewed through a healthcare lens. Changes in health policy, such as the Affordable Care Act and its impact on healthcare services and delivery, demonstrate the need for improved healthcare literacy to allow patients and practitioners to have the skills and knowledge required to navigate a complex system. Increased health literacy is vital as we strive to optimize health of the individual and the community. The lecture series will also include interactive presentations by FSU students and regional experts. See below for more information.
