The OMSS & NAACP welcome Ashley Hixson to campus on Monday, March 21st at 6pm in the UC 203. Ashley Hixson is founder of “The Collegiate Voice” which seeks to educate, inform, and provide experiences to help cultivate young scholars and aspiring professionals. Ashley Hixson’s presentation “SHARE YOUR VOICE” will help students understand the impact of sharing their collegiate experiences inside and outside of the classroom.
About the Speaker:
Ashley Hixson is a student affairs practicioner, social entrepreneur, and advocate of social reform for populations of disadvantaged backgrounds. Her primary work has been in higher education and community involvement. Her desire to start The Collegiate Voice derived from her personal experience as a student and her work in the field. While the media consistently underrepresents higher education attainment of the Black community and perpetuates the “crabs in a bucket” theory, the TCV Project encourages and highlights Black professionals who willingly dedicate their time and support to encourage young scholars.
