Volunteer Opportunity: Income Tax Preparation Program

As the time approaches for preparation of tax returned for the 2015 tax year, there is a program in Mecosta County that can help. Sponsored by AARP, this program is designed for taxpayers with low and moderate incomes, with special attention to those age 60 and older. This program is run entirely by volunteers who will be assisting clients at four centers from February 1 through April 15th. Appointments are usually scheduled for one hour and can be completely timely if the taxpayer brings all of the necessary paperwork to assist in preparation of the return. Below are the locations and times to volunteer.

  • Mecosta County Service Building, Big Rapids – Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00pm, 2/2/16 through 4/14/16 (except 3/24/16)
  • Morton Township Hall, Mecosta – Every Monday, 9:00am to 4:00pm, 2/1/16 through 4/11/16 (except 3/28/16)
  • Morton Township Library, Mecosta – Every Friday 9:30am to 4:00pm, 2/5/16 through 4/15/16 (except 3/25/16)
  • Wheatland Township Library, Remus – Every Wednesday, 10:00am to 4:00pm, 2/3/16 through 4/13/16
