Newman Civic Fellow Nominee: Honors Student Katelyn Michalski

The Honors Program would like to congratulate Honors and Pre-Science/Pharmacy student, Katelyn Michalski, on her nomination by President Eisler for the Newman Civic Fellow through Campus Compact! Below is a statement from the president.

“On behalf of Ferris State University, it is our pleasure to nominate Katelyn Michalski. As a student in Pre-Science, Katelyn is a member of our Honors program and has the ambition to pursue an advanced degree in Health Sciences. She excels academically and has achieved over 75 hours of community service since Fall 2015.

As a student leader, she has taken over the leadership of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ PACE program, which brings mentors to the local middle school to work with students on a weekly basis. Their goal is to inspire the younger generation to become aware of their opportunities for higher education and to excel academically. Beyond the hours she has recorded, she has created an opportunity for other students to contribute regularly to the community in a high impact way.

This is a difficult program to coordinate while collaborating with different school locations and contracts while relying on other university students for assistance. Katie has done an outstanding job.”

Katelyn Michalski also released the below statement:

“Thank you for this recognition. I enjoy providing encouragement and presenting possibilities for children. It is my privilege to serve the community in this capacity and lead other students to do the same.”

Congratulations, again, to Katelyn Michalski for her commitment to leadership!
