New RSO for First Generation College Students

There are 2,910 students at Ferris who represent the first generation of their family to attend college. In Honors, we have about 17% of our students who represent this community.

How does a first-year college student learn what they don’t know when they’re the first one in the family to ever go to college?

College is a wonderful experience, but many first generation students are left wondering, feeling lost and struggling with navigating through the wonderland of unknows they encounter in the first year. If you are the first in your family to go to college, you can help other first-generation students!

On Thursday, April 21st at 11:00 in FLITE 110, we’ll be holding an informal meeting to see if there is student interest in organizing an RSO and E-board for First Generation Students.  If you are interested in being part of this group, or in having more information, please contact Charlie Malone, the Honors Advisor or Jody Maloney ([email protected]).
