Study Abroad to Italy Story

Italy was the hot spot for studying abroad this year! Honors student, Luke Jacobson, traveled with Dr. Caserta and other students to Italy this summer. Below is a comment from Luke about his trip as well as his favorite photos. Thank you, Luke, for sharing your experience with us!

“I think my study aboard trip to Italy enhanced my education tremendously. I think the main reason it enhanced my education was because it allowed me to experience a totally different culture than my own. I found Italy’s culture to be much more relaxed than that of the United States. I also enjoyed the tropical and warm feel of the country. I believe that my study abroad trip also helped me grow socially. I met a variety of people from Ferris that I probably would not have met otherwise. I now have a new group of friends on campus. I also learned about things that are socially acceptable in other countries, and how to communicate with others that don’t speak English. While being in Italy I was also able to really connect more with the things my professors lectured on in class. For example, when we were touring the winery our guide talked more about the fermentation process that we had learned about in class. It was nice to be able to see the process from start to finish in person, and taste the reward. All in all, the trip was very rewarding and I made memories that will last a lifetime!”
