The Salvation Army are looking for volunteers to help them with two different projects this fall. Below are description of each project.
After-School Community Center
The Salvation Army will need volunteers for their After-School Community Center. The mission of the center is to provide a safe, fun, and encouraging place for students to spend their time between school and home. The Center is open Mon.-Fri. from 3:00-6:00pm, except when Big Rapids Public Schools are closed. Volunteers will be asked to help students ages 6-16 with their homework, play games, arts/crafts and more! If you are interested in learning more or volunteering, please contact Rebecca Hixenbaugh at 231-796-5597.
Bell-Ringing Red Kettle Campaign
The Salvation Army will need volunteers for the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign. The Kettle Campaign is the largest fund-raiser of the year. The funds that are raising between November 16th and December 24th (no Sundays or Thanksgiving Day) are used for programs and services provided locally. All bell-ringing shifts are 2 hours long and volunteers can register for as many shifts as they would like. If you represent an RSO, fraternity or sorority let us know and your group can ring together. Bell ringing can be a ton of fun! Feel free to play an instrument, sing carols, or bring a friend to hang out with. If you are interested in helping, please visit http://bigrapidsmi.volunteerfirst.org/ to sign up and remember to dress warmly as you will be outside.
If you would like more information about either of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Chris Vallette at 231-796-5597 ext. 103 or email him at email@example.com.
