Volunteer Opportunity: Red Cross Volunteer Training Program

The American Red Cross of West Michigan will offer a special “Zero 2 Hero” volunteer training event. Participants will receive basic skills to become a disaster responder. Red Cross disaster volunteers are trained to respond to all types of disasters and the “Zero 2 Hero” event is a great opportunity for new volunteers to fast track that training into one day. Participants also will have a chance to interacted with Red Cross staff and other volunteers to learn more about the Red Cross.

Training will take place on Friday, December 9th at Mecosta/Osceola Red Cross, Northland Drive, Big Rapids, MI. Registration is from 8:30 to 10am. The disaster cycle services overview class will be held from 10am to 12pm and the Psychological First Aid runs from 1pm to 4pm. They will also offer online classes including: Mass Care: An Overview; Bulk Distribution Fundamentals; Basic Food Safety; Recovery: An Overview; Direct Client Assistance Fundamentals; and Casework and Recovery Planning Fundamentals.
