Lunch and Learn: Townhall Debate on Paying College Athletes

Professor Sandy Alspach will be hosting a Lunch and Learn on Thursday, February 2nd entitled “Townhall Debate on Paying College Athletes.” During her presentation, Professor Alspach will lead a discussion on the issue of if college athletes should be paid in addition to their scholarships.

“Sports Communication students will lead the discussion taking turns making arguments about whether college athletes should be paid a stipend beyond their scholarships. The rules of engagement require that a speaker must have ‘evidence’ to back their positions. Members of the audience are free to move from one side of the room to the other as their opinion on the issue changes. At the end of the discussion, the chairman will declare a ‘winner’ based on the way the audience is seated.”
