Cultural Event: Aloha!

Aloha Chicago Entertainment will be performing as part of the Big Rapids Festival of the Arts on Saturday, February 18th. They will perform at 7:00pm in the Crossroads Charter Academy Auditorium. Experience the islands of Polynesia as you take a trip to the South Pacific with a warm welcome, beautiful authentic dancing, talented island musicians and an evening that will make you forget the snow outside.

Aloha Chicago Entertainment, based in Chicago, was founded by Chris Tuia’ana, the son of an accomplished Polynesian musician and entertainer. Chris naturally became involved in entertainment as a child – from performing dances and playing music, to settings up and sound-checking equipment, Chris did it all. Chris’s father, Herman Tapu Tuia’ana, performed at world famous venues including the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii and Disney World’s Polynesian Village & Resort in Orlando, Florida. Shortly after uprooting from Orlando to Chicago in the early 1970s, the Tuia’ana family quickly became active members of Chicagoland’s Polynesian community, performing at well-known Chicago hot spots such as Shanghai Lil’s and Marriott’s Kona Kai restaurant. Chris says, “I can’t see myself ever doing anything else. I love what I do and nothing makes me happier than to see the faces of our audience members light up when we’re preforming.”
