Cultural Event: The American Basket and the Immigrant Influence

The Festival of the Arts will be holding their first ‘Brown Bag Lunch’ of the festival on Friday, February 17th at 12:00pm at Artworks. Brown bag lunches originated as a means of conducting employee training during the lunch hour but have since become any opportunity for people to get our of their routine of the day for an hour to nourish the body and mind. In that spirit, Artworks is offering Brown Bag Lunches. Each will be held in the Chemical Bank lower level Gallery at Artworks.

The third speakers will be Roxanne Cullen and Janette Fleury on Friday, February 17th. They will be presenting “The American Basket and the Immigrant Influence” which will be a discussion about American basketry featuring the baskets of several regions in the U.S. illustrating the characteristic features of these baskets and the modifications which made them uniquely American.
