Cultural Event: Creative Writing Tasting Event

As a part of the Festival of the Arts, there will be a Creative Writing Tasting Event: A Sampling of Poetry and Prose on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:00pm in the IRC Building Atrium. Below is a description of the event.

“Robert Louis Stevenson wrote that wine is bottled poetry. Yes, poetry is that good! In writing why everyone should read at least one poem a day, Chris Hart says ‘Wine is bottled poetry. Who doesn’t like wine? Wine’s great. Let’s get drunk on poetry a little bit every day, okay reader? Like wine, a little bit of poetry consumed regularly is good for your health. It’ll make your mind nice and strong, and bring pleasure to you on a regular basis. Experience the world in full beauty. Save ‘awesome’ for the things which truly are. Expand your experience a tiny bit every day.’

And we would add, imbibe a little fiction and nonfiction, too! Come join us for an evening of creative work with Ferris faculty and staff from across the disciplines. Each participant will read for approximately five minutes. The works will be from diverse perspectives and in multiple forms and voices. The evening will be like a wine tasting with words, just a taste from each but we do ask that you don’t simple swirl, sip, and spit. Swallow it; let it infuse your senses and warm your soul. Audience members under the age of 21 are encouraged to sample.”
