February 17, 2017 · by · in Announcements, Community Event, Cultural Event, Current Students, Ferris, Opportunities. ·

As a part of the Passion for the Past Series, the Political Engagement Project will be hosting a discussion on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30pm in the IRC 107 entitled “Trump and Putin: A Permanent Reset in U.S. – Russian Relations?” The panel will pose and discuss questions such as: What does Donald Trump’s Presidency mean for the future of U.S. and Russian relations? Will the new U.S. President’s articulated approach to world affairs finally bring about a permanent improvement in these relations? Or will divergent Russian and U.S. interests once again prevent such a development from taking place?

The panel will be made up of professors from Russia who will share their views of U.S. society, culture, government, and foreign policy. In addition to professor panelists from Ferris State University, there will be Russian professors from Russia. Russian panelists include: Elena Gavrilova, Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and History at Kazan Federal University and Olga Zinnurova, Ph.D. in Education from National Technological Research University in Kazan, Russia. The Ferris professor panelists will include: Christian Peterson, Ph.D. in History; Tracy Busch, Ph.D. in History; Lilia Caserta, Adjunct Instructor for English, Italian, and Russian.
