In the Fall of 2017, Honors will be offering two sections of English 250. In English 250, students analyze texts as existing in broader contexts with distinct purposes and audiences, synthesize academic research for appropriate genres and rhetorical situations; and construct texts that respond to the needs of various audiences and purposes.

For Honors English 250, you will focus on a central theme to collaboratively pursue a more complete understanding of and engagement in the research process. The theme of our inquiry based projects will be public and community health: what is involved in maintaining and promoting healthy lifestyles where we live. Our investigation and writing might focus on the ongoing discussion of water quality in Flint and greater Michigan, the growing prescription drug use in rural areas of the state, or local and state government health initiatives: we will focus our topic together and proceed from there.
