ArtPrize is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place for 19 days each fall in Grand Rapids, MI. Art is exhibited throughout downtown Grand Rapids – museums, bars, public parks, restaurants, theaters, hotels, bridges, laundromats, auto body shops, vacant storefronts and office spaces.

Passing Strange:

We would attend the musical Passing Strange at Actor’s Theatre from 6pm until around 11:30pm on one of the following dates: Friday, November 10th; Saturday, November 11th; Friday, November 17th; or Saturday, November 18th

From singer-songwriter and performance artist Stew comes Passing Strange, a daring musical that takes you on a journey across boundaries of place, identity, and theatrical convention. Stew brings the story of a young bohemian who charts a course for “the real” through sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll. Loaded with soulful lyrics and overflowing with passion, the show takes us from black middle-class America to Amsterdam, Berlin and beyond on a journey towards personal and artistic authenticity.

Annie:

We would attend the musical Annie at the Civic Theatre from 5:30pm until around 11:30pm on one of the following dates: Saturday, November 18th or Saturday December 2nd

In the midst of the 1930s, Annie is an orphan who is searching for her family. With no help from the tyrannical orphanage director, Miss Hannigan, Annie is selected to stay with a millionaire, Daddy Warbucks, for the holidays. Will Annie finally have the family she’s dreamed of?

Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World Exhibition:

We would attend the Holiday Exhibition at Meijer Gardens from 12:00pm until 6:00pm on one of the following dates: Saturday, December 2nd or Saturday, December 9th
