As part of Literature in Person, the Department of Languages and Literature will be hosting poet Katie Kalisz on Monday, October 2nd from 7:00 to 8:00pm in IRC 120. Katie Kalisz is Professor of English at Grand Rapids Community College where she teaches first-year Composition, Poetry, and Creative Writing. She earned an MFA in poetry from Queens University of Charlotte, and her poems have appeared in Midwestern Gothic, Plainsongs, Old Northwest Review, Red Paint Hill, Drafthorse, Big Scream, and Neat Magazine, among others. Her poem “Calling Unemployment Once-A-Week in Michigan” was nominated for the 2013 Best of the Net Anthology, and “Pregnant at a Funeral” was recreated as a broadside by The Michigan Poet.
