Cultural Event: Great Lakes, Bad Lines

The Bulldog Sustainability Alliance will be presenting a screening of “Great Lakes, Bad Lines” on Wednesday, October 4th from 7:00 to 9:00pm in UCB 217. “Great Lakes, Bad Lines” is a documentary by Michigan-born filmmaker Colin McCarthy that focuses on Enbridge Line 5, a 64-year-old set of oil pipelines that run under the Straits of Mackinac and pump 540,000 barrels of crude oil through the straits every day. These aging pipelines pose a serious threat to the entire Great Lakes ecosystem if they were to rupture.

This documentary is available in its entirety free of licensing fees at the courtesy of the director, hosted on both Vimeo and YouTube. Following the screening, attendees will be invited to participate in a discussion about the future of Enbridge Line 5 and will have the opportunity to sign a currently circulating petition aimed at ending the flow of crude oil through the pipeline. For more information, please contact Adam Jandura at .
