Brainchild is an honors-only literary and arts magazine. The magazine is housed at Kent State University, who is an affiliate of the Mid-East Honors Association. The mission of the magazine is to offer creatively talented honors students the opportunity to be published as undergraduates – there is no cost for submitting to the magazine.

Brainchild is calling upon Ferris Honors students to submit pieces for the 2018 issue. Submissions are open until January 1, 2018 and they can include pieces of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, essays, and visual art such as paintings, fine art, and photography. The magazine seeks work rooted in honesty and authenticity. The editors want to see work that rouses their imagination and furnishes further discussion.

If you are interested, you are encouraged to visit their website for submission guidelines, check out their history, as well as view past issues for a better sense of their aesthetic. If you have any questions, please contact Charles Malone at Kent State University via email at
