The Arts and Lecture Committee at Ferris will be hosting Nell Painter on Friday, October 6th from 7:00 to 9:00pm in the UC 202. Nell Painter is a historian and author of “The History of White People” and “Southern History Across the Color Lines.” Painter is the emerita Edwards Professor of American History at Princeton University and earned her Doctorate of History at Harvard. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and is considered a leading historian for her works like “Sojourner Truth, A Life, A Symbol” biography, published in 1996. Painter will be on campus to discuss her work and to sign books. Given the current events with Charlottesville, the NFL protests, and other major issues in the US, the committee believes Painter’s talk will be timely and important. Tickets are $5 for students with a Ferris ID.
