Applications for the 2018 Humanity in Action Fellowship in Detroit for emerging leader from Michigan and around the world are now open! Since 1997, Humanity in Action has sponsored and organized fellowships on diversity and civic engagement across the United States and in Europe. The Detroit Fellowship is a fully-funded, four-week immersive program for emerging leaders who are passionate about equitable development, diversity and civic engagement running from July 10th until August 5th, 2018.
The Humanity in Action Fellowship in Detroit will explore the biography of Detroit – a city deeply emblematic of the tensions of massive economic and cultural change in 20th and 21st century America. The program places Detroit’s history and contemporary issues within the larger national context of the transformation of urban and regional economies at a time of profound inequality in the United States. Fellows will gain access to Humanity in Action’s international network and a range of professional opportunities with the U.S. Congress, the NAACP, the ACLU and others.
Candidates should show dedication to contribute to Detroit’s future and an interest in community development, entrepreneurship and/or public health. They are seeking applications from promising young professionals and students from Detroit and from elsewhere in Michigan to join their inaugural fellowship. The application deadline is January 8th.
