Lunch and Learn: How to Gain Clinical Experiences as a Medical Scribe

Jeff Trytko, MS, Director of the GVSU Academy and Clark Vredevoogd, Chief Scribe at Helix Scribe will be presenting a Lunch and Learn on Tuesday, October 24th entitled “How to Gain Clinical Experiences as a Medical Scribe.” During their presentations, these two professionals will discuss the opportunity for Ferris honors students to work as scribes in a medical setting and the benefits of this opportunity. Below is a short description of what the presentation will cover.

“Coming Fall 2017 Semester, positions are opening for medical scribes to work at the Big Rapids and Reed City Emergency Departments. Scribes also have opportunity to work with the Spectrum Health Medical Group (Urology, Primary Care, Ortho Trauma), Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan and Allegan General Hospital.

Free training is available through Helix Scribe Solutions and the GVSU Scribe Academy. Graduates are offered part time employment that is flexible around class schedules.  Participants will learn about the application process, overview of the training including online theory and clinical practice, and what experiences to expect while working as a medical scribe.  More information is available at www.gvsu.edu/scribe.”
