The University of Missouri-Kansas City Honors College will be taking Honors students to Ireland this summer! In this four-week summer experience, students will be exposed to the history and culture of Ireland. Home base will be the seaport city of Cork, a community of 125,000 people. They will join up with the University College-Cork, one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities and the 2011-12 “Irish University of the Year.” While there, students will be able to take 6 hours of Honors credit (in-state tuition is possible for ALL students). The courses will focus on Irish History from the medieval period to the present with a special focus on the late 19th and 20th centuries. Classes will consist of lectures, films, music, literature readings, and sports outings. Students will also have the opportunity to take day trips throughout the region to Limerick, Galway, and Belfast.
