FSU Theatre’s performance of “Blue Stockings” will open on Thursday, March 22nd and will run till Sunday, March 25th. The show will be in Williams Auditorium at 7:30pm each day except for Sunday’s performance will be a 2:30pm matinee. The p[lat is about Girton College-Cambridge, which was the first college in Britain to admit women starting in 1896. The Girton women matched or exceeded the men scholastically but when the men graduated, they received a full degree while the women were presented with nothing but the label of “Blue Stocking.” This term was used to describe ‘overly educated’ women as being undeserving and unmarriable. The play “Blue Stockings” follows four women through one year at school as they fight for their education and for their right to graduate.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, and $5.00 for students, but the Honors Program will be offering up to 100 vouchers to attend the show for free!
