Did you know that all Five Star Events count as cultural events in the Honors Program?
The first Five Star Event, a Free Speech Panel Discussion, is Thursday, September 20 from 7 to 9 PM in UC 202.
This event will educate people about free speech. It will inform students about their rights, what they can/can’t say, spark a debate or more in-depth conversation about free speech in the media today, and the influence of social media on free speech.
The event features remarks by attorney CL Lindsey, nationally-recognized expert and leader in the field of student rights and academic freedom. He literally wrote the book on legal problems at colleges. The College Student’s Guide to the Law has become the definitive authority used by students, university counsel, and as a textbook for master’s and law courses nationwide.
The event will then move into a panel discussion with CL as well as representatives from Public Safety, Office of Student Conduct, and the Political Engagement Project.
