Who is the MEHA?
What is MEHA you ask? Mid-East Honors Association (MEHA) is an organization that represents honors programs in universities and colleges across the Mid-East region through an annual conference, regular newsletters and email communications. It is made up of honor students and faculty throughout the mid-east region. This region consists of Eastern Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.
“Through sharing information about honors programs and best honors practices region-wide, MEHA hopes to create an intellectual, programmatic and administrative network of resources aimed at helping the region’s honors program grow and thrive.” -MEHA Mission Statement
Tell me more…
The annual conference expands the audience and gives honors students an opportunity to present, inform, and gain recognition in their chosen disciplines and honors experiences. The MEHA Conference is designed to allow more student submissions than most state and typical regional conferences. They emphasize the value of student presentations and encourage students to jump at this opportunity that doesn’t get offered to just anyone.
What are the Benefits?
Not only does this conference look amazing on your resumé, you have the privilege of presenting at a regional conference. You will develop the skill of presenting your ideas or your data to peers and professionals, which is invaluable in both graduate school and the workplace. Students and faculty will have many opportunities to make contacts in other Honors programs and colleges, and honors directors and deans find learning about best practices from colleagues at other institutions to be valuable.
